Fleet Advantage came to for a series of 3 explainer videos to appeal to trucking companies as they decide between leasing and purchasing new equipment.
As the animator on this project, I combined workflows using textures with 2D vector artwork and combining those with the Cinema 4D render in After Effects, all on a short timeline. The shape layer transitions in this video also posed a creative challenge to seamlessly tie the scenes together.
Managing a textured style with a vector artwork workflow proved to challenge in having a ton of parenting and matting occurring. There were times when I had to convert those textures to vector shapes in After Effects, but for the most part, we were dealing with raster textures. As with any project, there were plenty of trial and error moments with adjusting the workflow for textures, but in the end I was able to find a fluid workflow in having modular pre-comps to be re-used throughout the video. This workflow proved to be the way that would flow smoothly towards the final render.
